Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Services Supervisor, the Nutrition Assistant performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties, as well as other related tasks.
Examples include: assembling patient trays according to prescribed diet, following correct food handling and safety procedures, assisting in dishroom and warewashing duties, preparation and delivery of between meal feedings, preparation of floorstock and strategic supply items, answering phones, utilizing department specific programs for patient meal service, functioning as a Nutrition Services department representative in patient care areas, educating patients on meal processes, delivering meals, direct patient interaction, and any other duties as assigned. Will be cross-trained in multiple areas including retail and administrative.
Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy mission, values and Standards of Service.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent preffered
Experience: Food Service and/or Customer Service oriented experience preferred.
Other: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Interest in learning new skills and growth of your role in the department.
Preferred Other: Additional languages preferred.
