The Sr. Manager of Supply Chain Network Planning Commercial Partnerships drives customer fulfillment strategy for large customer acquisitions. They work alongside Commercial Sales to optimize existing fulfillment strategies and represents Commercial Sales priorities when defining new network capabilities such as flexible delivery options, impact on DC capacity and throughput, capital asset strategy, SKU optimization and placement, DC fulfillment strategy and network design strategy. This role will develop and run world class forecasts and processes (including, but not limited to Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP)) and distribution capacity planning.

This role partners and leads stakeholders to ensure business plans are translated into clear, transparent inventory strategies agreed to by all key upstream stakeholders.

Monitors and maintain visibility to inventory health while proactively driving attention and coordinating required resources to resolve issues.

Direct team of supply chain professionals to deliver world class product availability, working capital management through managing capacity, throughput, and transportation efficiency.

Work closely with National Sales, Local Sales and Merchandising to drive strategic account planning and replenishment strategies.

This position requires experience with supply chain network modeling methodology, tools, knowledge of supply chain analytics, and complex data sets. Regular communication with executive level leadership on status and risks/opportunities. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive interaction skills are essential.

This position is virtual which means the work can be completed from anywhere in the United States except for Hawaii and the United States Territories.


Lead a team to develop and maintain forecasting and impact analysis for network capacity, throughput, and transportation efficiency with regards to Commercial Sales scenarios. Leverage network modeling capabilities to demonstrate the impact of other US Foods initiatives on efficiency, cost, capacity, and throughput to improve supply chain responsiveness and efficiency.

Develop the forecast for capacity and throughput impacting Supply Chain Network on a national scale.

Partner with National Sales, Local Sales and Merchandising organizations to recommend strategic account support strategies, support new account integration and support the launch of new initiatives.

Develop and execute forecasts business case and recommend timeline for investments. Present findings to Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors for adoption.

Contribute to resource planning and capital investment decisions.

Plan the implementation of The US Foods Way for Network Planning through strategic vision, cross-functional collaboration, and a focus on team development. Gather requirements from Commercial Sales and Supply Chain. Articulate supply chain network constraints with multiple distribution centers and manufacturing locations.

Develop approach and drive projects to deliver results through implementing the Planning Design Standards including, but not limited to, implementation of S&OP processes, metrics, and organization structure.

Manage supply chain organization encompassing strategic (e.g., demand planning, supply planning, planning systems optimization) as well as execution functions (e.g., forecasting, planning, and scheduling and warehousing operations etc.)

Partner with Long Range Network planning, Short Range Network planning and other network planning partners to develop and maintain a cohesive end-to-end network planning roadmap.

Partner with National Sales, Local Sales, Operations and Transportation to define optimal customer fulfillment guidelines.

Work closely with Finance business managers to quantify and prioritize programs and measure progress toward optimization and cost goals.

Collaborate with HR Business Partners to establish associate development strategies that enable the envisioned future state of Network planning.

Model change management best practices and build trust in recommendations through company-wide exposure to Network planning best practices.

Drive ongoing Network Planning excellence and KPI performance

Define, document, communicate, implement, and enforce planning policies, practices, KPI’s, and processes in-line with standards.

Lead the implementation of best practices across all supply chain functions including demand planning, delivery goals, sales & operations processes, supply planning, as well as order fulfillment and inventory management.

Incorporate market and industry research, best practices benchmarking and market-specific constraints into network planning improvement strategies.

Drive policies, processes and performance metrics designed to track the implementation and impact of Network planning.

Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of Supply Chain Network Planning.

Position is responsible for 1-3 direct reports.


Internal: National and Local Sales, Commercial, Operations Excellence, Finance, Replenishment, Logistics, Real Estate, Insights and Analytics, IT.

External: Vendors, Suppliers, Customers; Professional networks, industry organizations and/or consultants focused on leading practices in supply chain technology and deployment.


Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Supply Chain or related fields and leadership experience in supply chain analytics.

Preferred: Advanced Degree in Operations Research, Data Analytics, Statistics, Supply Chain, or related fields.

Related Experience/Requirements:

7+ years of experience, with Supply Chain is strongly desired.

Requirement: experience in statistical modeling and forecasting using large data sets in a business context.

3+ years of leadership experience (including people and/or functions and leading large scale, highly visible projects).

Experience in Sales driven environments working with multiple customers and regions.

Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) program implementation and on-going management.

Demonstrated ability to identify potential technical process improvements and participates in developing solutions.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects in the face of ambiguity.

Ability to communicate effectively across a multitude of platforms with remote team members, as well as stakeholders at multiple levels within the organization.

Experience with Llamasoft or similar software packages is a plus.
