The individual in this job is responsible for the overall operations of the Med/Surg Unit. In order to provide visible oversight of the department, this position is designed as a 'working manager'. This coworker actively participates with hospital leaders and other hospital department managers in designing and providing patient care and services, develops and manages the departmental budget, and helps maintain optimal nursing department functions on weekends in collaboration with other nurse managers.
Experience: Five years of professional experience in a hospital setting.
Required Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Evidence of continuing professional education is required.
Preferred Education: BSN or MSN
Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certifications - upon hire or complete training
during the orientation period. Required certifications must be current before being assigned to care for patients independently.
