We are seeking a self-directed leader to join the Health and Group Valuation team, focused on Individual Health products. This is a high visibility role, where collaboration across function is very important. We are looking for someone to take ownership of their work and proactively report and manage the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans valuation responsibilities. There are a number of key initiatives in motion, including modelling, assumption setting and moving Finance functions from a 3rd party provider to in-house, and it is a good time to join to be able to put your stamp on the future of the reporting and valuing of these products.


Execute activities related to the Valuation of products and the actuarial estimates required for financial reporting, and effectively communicate results to management.

Lead the creation of assumption reviews, including development and communication of variance from expected. Support assumption reviews on an ongoing basis.

Lead in the development of key metrics and reporting to enhance senior management's understanding of the financial aspects of the business.

Initiate and develop improvements to actuarial models, methods, procedures, and systems.

Keep abreast of legislative and other regulatory or industry changes to determine their effect on assumptions and calculations.

Collaborate with the product team(s) to advance the understanding of our products and the associated financial modeling, as well as advance the competitiveness of the product in the market.

Partner with product and finance associates as the company brings in-house finance functions from a 3rd party.

Partner with the pharmacy management team to help drive a deeper understanding of operations and claims trends and processes, which may impact the financials and actuarial estimates.

Support regulatory reporting requirements, actuarial opinion, and control framework, including Actuarial Standards of Practice.

May have an opportunity to participate in recruiting college candidates for professional Actuarial positions and serve on Company committees in an actuarial adviser capacity.

Support risk management by identifying and assessing risk in actuarial responsibilities. Comply with actuarial standards of practice, precepts and enterprise risk management responsibilities; ensuring team compliance with the same. Support enterprise wide risk management initiatives.


Experience with Medicare Part D or other Medicare related products and industry knowledge

Thorough actuarial background, as well as thorough background in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Economics and/or Computer Science

Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office software, experience with other actuarial software

Strong oral and written communication and human relations skills

Exceptional critical thinking skills

Good business judgment to identify experience trends and issues requiring modification in standard approaches or need to elevate risk concerns

Proven track record of taking accountability and ownership of work

Demonstrated leadership skills

Creativity and awareness of emerging environmental and industry trends, and strong problem-solving abilities using business-oriented solutions

Attainment of ASA or FSA designation

Thorough financial background with extensive experience in the development and presentation of financial reports
