Overview:

The Trauma Coordinator / Program Manager (TC/TPM) role and purpose is to provide program leadership, management, strategic direction, and financial control of the Trauma Program. To ensure compliance with national and state criteria for the Level III and IV designated Trauma Centers. The TC/TPM is an active member of the Performance Improvement and Peer Review Committee of all 4 facilities. He/She is responsible for the leading role in injury prevention in the Level III & IV Trauma Centers with participation and development of the injury prevention program. The TC/PM is the collector, keeper, and reporter of the Trauma Registry. The TC/PM is responsible for meeting all the HIPAA regulatory requirements in data submission for the Level III & IV Trauma Centers and is the key person for data submission to the State Trauma Registry. The TC/PM adheres to the policy of "Quality In = Quality Out" philosophy with the submission of data. Also the TC/PM is responsible for preparing reports for committee meetings related to trauma events. The TC/PM assists and interfaces with the TMD. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

 

Education: BSN preferred.

Strong education Background preferred.

Shows evidence of educational preparation of CME's on trauma related programs.

Licensure: Registered Nursing License (AR)

Experience: Trauma Experience, Minimum 2 years ED acute care experience.

Certification/Registration: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC

Other skills & knowledge: (skills, knowledge, abilities)

Skills in program management related to data, operations, presentations, and budgeting.

Skills in public relations and development of professional relationships with EMS, Media, Referral hospitals, etc..

Is proficient in the use of State Data Dictionary and the Registry Software.

Has knowledge of injury and procedure coding including Ecodes, ICD-9 codes, and AIS (Abbreviated Injury Score). Using the State Registry software, able to query and sort

statistical data.

Other skills & knowledge: (skills, knowledge, abilities)

Computer Skills with basic Microsoft Office programs.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

Education: BSN

Experience: Experience with Electronic Health Record preferred.

Certification/Registration: Instructor level for Advanced certification courses
