Job Description

Job Summary
This position provides critical support for the quality, validity and integrity of confidential data to use in decision making and organizational efficiency improvement initiatives. The Data Analyst retrieves, analyzes and summarizes business, medical, operations, financial, sales, customer and/or economic data in order to develop competitive and business intelligence, to optimize effectiveness and/or predict business outcomes. Incumbent identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns and prepares ongoing reports and data visualizations in order to support business decisions.

Requirements

Education & Experience:
1. Bachelor s degree in Math, Science, Statistics, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Data Science/Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Administration, Health Information, Epidemiology, Actuarial Science or related field.
2. Three (3) years of data analytics experience, which includes data extraction, data manipulation, repository building and data interpretation OR Master s degree in a related field and one (1) year of data analytics experience.
3. Experience with rational database i.e. SAS, SQL, AQT and MS Windows based query software.

Preferred Skills:
Application of data management and analysis tools including but not limited to MS Access, SAS, R, S+, SQL, or Cognos

ResponsibilitiesConsults with users or decision makers to identify data sources, required data elements, and/or data validation standards., Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas, ensures data accuracy and integrity, and updates data as needed to develop statistics and design methodologies to be used for decision making and new business initiatives., Interprets data to identify business trends, conduct root cause analysis of business problems, and suggest areas for process improvement., Manages and uses ad-hoc report requests and findings to develop reporting processes., Serves on special projects.

This position is identified as level three (3). This position must ensure the security and confidentiality of records and information to prevent substantial harm, embarrassment, inconvenience, or unfairness to any individual on whom information is maintained.
