The Program

The Dental Hygiene program is 5-semesters in length and offers a Bachelor of Science degree. The program admits 36 students per year, utilizing an individualized, holistic admission process that considers both academic and non-academic admission factors. The curriculum emphasizes active learning methods that focus on integration and application of material and critical thinking skills. In-class sessions incorporate problem-based and team-based learning, as well as inter-professional learning experiences. In addition to a large on-campus clinic, the program maintains clinical affiliations with Arkansas Children's Hospital, Future Smiles Dental Clinic (at Wakefield Elementary School in Little Rock), Conway Regional Interfaith Dental Clinic, and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in North Little Rock. The program is accredited by the Council on Dental Accreditation, American Dental Association. UAMS is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Responsibilities

 

 

 

The Department of Dental Hygiene in the College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks applicants for a full-time, 12-month faculty position, located in Little Rock, Arkansas. We are searching for a team-oriented faculty member. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position will remain open until filled.

The faculty member will report to the program director of the dental hygiene program and will have primary responsibility of designing and teaching courses in area(s) of content expertise; contributing to program and curriculum assessment and planning activities; providing pre-clinic and clinical teaching and supervision; contributing to the university's interprofessional education initiatives; and participating in university, community, and professional service.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

 

Applicant Qualifications

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene or related field

Dental hygiene license, or license eligible, in Arkansas including local anesthesia;

Minimum of 4 years' recent and substantial clinical experience;
