Description/Job Summary The Quality Control Chemist position at will be part of the R&D team responsible for performing analytical testing on company products, and occasionally executing basic research and development experiments. The Quality Control Chemist will independently develop and perform analytical methods and tests for existing and laboratory products. The Quality Control Chemist will work a staggered schedule which may require weekend and nighttime hours in order to support the manufacturing plant. The Quality Control Chemist should be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. The Quality Control Chemist should demonstrate the ability to independently solve challenging problems, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and possess excellent mathematical aptitude. The Quality Control Chemist will have a thorough understanding of the product process(es) and be able to coherently converse with Production personnel on operation needs and issues. THIS IS A SAFETY-SENSITIVE JOB FOR PURPOSES OF THE ARKANSAS MEDICAL MARIJUANA AMENDMENT Responsibilities/Duties 1. Work without safety incident and identify and report safety issues in the Quality Control Laboratory. 2. Perform routine analytical testing following established Analytical Operating Procedures. 3. Document results of analytical testing in the ERP System. 4. Troubleshoot and maintain analytical testing equipment. 5. Develop analytical methods to support new product solutions and R&D experiments. 6. Independently design and execute R&D experiments as required. 7. Document experimental results and conclusions in the form of technical reports. 8. Presentation of results to Executive Management. 9. Maintain labs in compliance with Safe Foods housekeeping and safety standards. 10. Assist Manager, QC in writing Quality Operating Procedures. 11. Interface with Plant personnel on manufacturing situations. 12. Champion and complete individual projects as assigned. 13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Required Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or other Physical Science from ACS accredited college or university plus 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED Intermediate: Presentation/PowerPoint Basic: Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing Preferred Qualifications * Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written * Keen sense of observation and attention to detail * Ability to solve complex problems and troubleshoot abnormal data * Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously * Comfortable with software and database systems * Mechanical aptitude to set-up, maintain, and repair laboratory equipment Details The Quality Control Chemist will report directly to the Manager, Quality Control. The duties will be performed in a laboratory environment. The laboratory environment will have the potential to contain highly hazardous chemicals, some of which may possess offensive odors. Performing analytical testing and R&D experiments will require extensive standing and has the potential to require extensive use of the hands. While the position will work a scheduled shift, situations may arise in the manufacturing plant that would require unusual work hours. * Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently * Must be able to be a contributing member of a cross-functional team
