Duties: Analyzes data to drive analytics projects by serving as a technical lead for analytics projects; gathering data from internal and external sources; synthesizing data into analytics datasets to support project goals; developing statistical models and computational algorithms to analyze and describe the data and its characteristics; coding, testing, and maintaining analytical software tools; identifying trends and patterns in data; identifying discrepancies in data based on project goals; and providing reports and data insights to support overall project deliverables. Participates in multiple analytics project teams by working with project teams and business partners to determine project goals and objectives; gathering and synthesizing data; developing reports as needed; utilizing business knowledge to ensure data supports project goals; analyzing data based on identified variables; reviewing data results with team members to ensure accuracy; and communicating results and insights to the project team and business partners. Presents data insights to key stakeholders by developing insights based on data analysis; applying analytical results to project goals; identifying trends and key insights; translating results into business actions; and presenting results and insights to key stakeholders. Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field plus 2 years of experience in data science or a related field; OR 5 years of experience in data science or a related field.
Skills Required: Must have experience with: Extracting and validating the data from different databases (MYSQL, DB2, Teradata, Hadoop) by developing complex scripts using SQL programming language to ensure data quality; Data wrangling and data exploration using statistical programming languages such as R and Python to identify initial trends, patterns, and points of interest by using statistical techniques (descriptive and inferential statistics) and visualizations; Developing and validating advance machine learning (clustering, Bayesian, decision tree, random forest, Xgboost, instance based (SVM, kNN), regression models, artificial neural networks, linear programming) using programming languages such as Python or R; Using Natural Language processing techniques such as tokenizing, stemming, lemmatization for preprocessing the data and using text-based features to build classification models; Identifying important variables, modeling, testing, tuning and validating (confusion matrix, ROC curve) machine learning classification models using significant variables; Leveraging the big data processing frameworks (Apache Spark or Amazon Sage Maker) to increase computational power to train the models with huge amounts of data; Generating reports, dashboards and providing key recommendations to stakeholders using data visualization software such as Tableau or Spotfire; Developing and validating predictive models (ARIMA, SARIMAX) using different metrics (MAPE, SMAPE) on historical data to forecast the demand using SAS programming language and Python; and Developing deterministic operations research models including those of linear, integer and non-linear programming.
