Overview:

The Therapy Services Tech II assists the Physical and Occupational Therapists in the nonprofessional

functions of the department. The incumbent has direct patient contact in transportation and will assist patients with preparation for therapy treatment. The incumbent will provide assistance to the Therapists during patient treatments. Under the direct supervision of the Therapist, the incumbent assists in the application of thermal modalities, accompanies patients during simple gait activities; therapeutic exercises; therapeutic activities; functional mobility; and assists patients in and out of the therapy pool. The incumbent shall address appropriately the age specific needs for all patients. The incumbent will treat patients and families with dignity. Patients' pain will be assessed and treated according to the department's pain management policy. It is the philosophy of Mercy to optimize the patient's comfort while they are in the hospital. The incumbent will identify and report any patient safety issue when identified. The incumbent orders and stocks linen and supplies as required. The incumbent maintains temperature logs on all equipment involved in the application of thermal modaliities. The incumbent assists with keeping therapy equipment, treatment areas, work areas clean and in order. The incumbent will assist with Monthly Safety Checks and audits for Performance Improvement indicators, with documentation of findings. The incumbent will assist with collection of patient information from referring providers. The incumbent will assist with monitoring and collection of co-signatures from referring providers on therapy documentation. The incumbent will assist the therapists with coordination of services between patients and durable medical equipment vendors.

 

Qualifications:

Education: The Therapy Services Tech II shall have a minimum of an Associates Degree or be a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Experience: The Therapy Services Tech II may be entry level.

Certification/Registration: American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support Certification. Certified Nursing Assistant as applicable
