The Role

As Senior Analyst Relations Manager, you will work closely with the Senior Director of Analyst and Consultant Relations, AR colleagues, as well as with Corporate Communications, various business units, product management and product marketing to further Lumen’s position within the Industry Analyst and RFP consultant communities with firms such as Gartner, Forrester, IDC, and ISG among others. In this position you’ll be responsible for executing and managing the company’s visibility, interaction and influence within a diverse analyst community. This position is responsible for strategy and execution of relationship and ongoing engagements with industry analysts who are significant influencers of customer buying decisions. The role is a mix of both internal and external analyst relation’s activities. Works independently and manages multiple, cross-organizational projects and ad hoc project teams at one time. Interacts with VP and C-level executives in a trusted advisor capacity as required.

The Main Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key industry analysts and consultants by understanding their strategic focuses and ensuring the organization is addressing those.

• Responsible for strategy and execution of ongoing engagements with industry analysts who are significant influencers of customer buying decisions.

• Bring a thorough knowledge of Lumen and of each analyst to every analyst interaction.

• Technical knowledge including a detailed understanding of networking and Lumen products and services, used to coach subject matter experts/spokespeople in preparing content and presenting information tailored for an analyst audience.

• Extensive knowledge of your beat area such as network, edge hosting, cloud, data analytics, IT consulting services, security or unified communications and collaboration

• Supports RFP responses to large business customers, driving revenue for Lumen on a regular basis.

• Support and educate sales on analyst views and AR resources available to them.

• Coordinate program execution with other disciplines such as PR and events when appropriate.

• Manage multiple activities around Lumen’s annual Industry Analyst Summit.

• Help maintain internal AR databases.

• Forecasts business opportunities and internal responses to ensure continued growth and success of the organization.

• Leads the development, evaluation and implementation of new AR principles, processes and applications.

• Interfaces with all levels of management, including the senior leadership team, negotiating and influencing to build consensus.

• Leads all inbound and outbound analyst-related activities, including strategic planning industry analyst reports (Magic Quadrants, Waves, Marketscapes), key product launches, message testing and executive interactions. This leadership requires technical expertise and is a very key part of the sales cycle, impacting sales revenues.

• Structures and leads all analyst briefings, inquiries, and strategic advisory sessions

• Team player that can cast vision, illustrate tactics/strategy, and hold team members accountable.

• Must be a corporate spokesperson and influencer, sales support expert, and teacher to our junior and senior marketing managers across all VPs and extending to other business units.

• Develops, negotiates, implements, and manages complex projects with external analysts, consultants, and vendors.

• Works independently, with only minimal management oversight

• Works independently and leads teams to complete projects and major initiatives using judgment and technical experience

• Monitor for relevant analyst research to summarize and send to key internal stakeholders

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and relevant experience

• 12+ years of related experience

• Good communication skills, both oral and written

• Capable of understanding highly competitive market landscapes and strategically positioning differentiation to the analyst community.

• A strong technical mind with the ability to quickly locate, dissect and relay key information.

• Excellent prioritization, strategic planning and project management skills

• Ability to help shape content targeted to an analyst audience

• Ability to guide and counsel executive and other spokespeople

• Results and metrics oriented

Preferred:

• Master’s degree

• 12+ years of relevant experience

• Good communication skills, both oral and written
