The Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration provides financial and administrative leadership for the College of Public Health and is responsible for all college business operations. The Assistant Dean works with the Dean, other Assistant and Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and other leaders to develop and accomplish the missions of the College of Public Health. The Assistant Dean serves as the chief administrative and financial officer for the COPH and directly reports to the COPH Dean and indirectly reports to the UAMS Vice Chancellor for Finance. Additionally, the Assistant Dean functions as the IPE/COPH Building Manager, a role which spans other UAMS colleges and divisions outside of the COPH.

Financial Management of COPH: responsible for the overall financial health of the college, for budget development and management across multiple funds and systems; analyzes personnel, construction, and other needs and creates the case for increasing or decreasing resources dedicated to those needs; responsible for COPH external financial reports (e.g., ASPPH/CEPH, CAHME, Arkansas Tobacco Settlement Commission); responsible for COPH internal and ad hoc reports; ensures that all college decisions are made within the broader context of cost control, efficient staffing, effective compliance with regulatory and policy restrictions, and within the capacity of COPH resources of all types; calculates and reviews research core lab rates; develops and monitors faculty productivity metrics for use in annual budget process; provides oversight of COPH Faculty Incentive Plan; and provides oversight of dean's commitments to faculty
Operations Management of COPH: responsible for day-to-day business operations of the college; ensures compliance with federal regulations, state laws, and institutional policies; oversight of all general human resource issues and reporting to external stakeholders; handles sensitive employee relations issues affecting staff and faculty, as appropriate; oversight of the numerous specialized issue specific to adjunct faculty and graduate assistants; functions as building manager for the IPE/COPH building; responsible for COPH space management including determining occupancy, construction/renovation needs, security, appropriate use of space, etc.; oversight of procurement and inventory tracking functions for the college
Advisor to College Leadership: provides guidance to the COPH dean, Assistant and Associate Deans, center and office directors, and to department chairs on financial and general administrative policies and processes; advises the dean on faculty conflict of interest and outside employment issues; counsels college leadership on strategic investments in programs and faculty; participates in development, implementation, and enforcement of COPH policies; supports faculty recruitment and retention; and functions as the COPH signatory in numerous campus systems such as SAP, TRACKS COI, TRACKS Grants Module; Outside Employment system, nTracts system (contracts), FFTA (Foundation)
