Constructs or repairs tooling to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of meeting the tooling requirements for Manufacturing.
•Constructs and repairs dies, drill fixtures, compression molds, injection molds, machines, and all other associated parts to maintain or build tooling to accommodate production
•Assists Manufacturing and Maintenance in troubleshooting and resolving tooling issues.
•Properly heat treats completed parts as needed.
•Studies drawings to plan sequence of necessary operations to manufacturing tools.
•Instructs trainees within the department on an as needed basis.
•Assists the CAD drafters on tooling design and manufacture.
•Performs overtime as assigned.
•Performs general housekeeping duties as assigned.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
•A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of trade school in machine shop plus at least 4 years apprenticeship in a machine shop including prior experience in
drafting, blueprint reading, metallurgy, CAD, and computer experience is required.
•Must have required experience and knowledge to design and build tooling as needed and at least 3 years tool and die experience.
•Must have good communication skills, good basic mathematical skills, and good analytical abilities.
•Must have good teamwork skills, meet quality requirements, be flexible, and be able to meet and maintain performance standards.
•Must have workable knowledge of micrometers, dial calipers, tape measures, dial indicators, mills, lathes, heat treatment procedures, drill presses, grinders, multiple hand tools, and
any other shop equipment deemed necessary.
•Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a driving background check.
•Knowledge of CNC is preferred.
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds to waist level, to occasionally push/pull up to 100 pounds, and to bend, stoop and/or climb. Must be able to stand a minimum of 8 hours and be able to use micrometers, dial calipers, tape measures, dial indicators, mills, lathes, heat treatment procedures, drill presses, grinders, multiple hand tools, and any other shop equipment deemed necessary. Must wear proper protective equipment including, but not limited to, protective eye and/or hearing equipment to safely perform job duties.
