The Role: Smith-Blair, a Xylem Brand, seeks to hire a Tool & Die Toolmaker to perform necessary bench work to construct and repair complex tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and other tooling as necessary.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
+ Must be a team player that exhibits excellent communication/interpersonal skills; motivated to work in a highly participative environment and understand and believe in the Lean Manufacturing Principles (5’s, single piece flow, KanBan, etc.).
+ Required to efficiently and effectively set-up and operate all types of CNC and manual machines in the Tool & Die department and perform necessary bench work to construct and repair complex tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, etc.
+ Ability to read and interpret complicated blueprints, sketches, shop drawings, machine drawings and schematics.
+ Must possess a good working knowledge of tool steels and their associated applications.
+ Must have ability to use all types of precision measuring instruments; ability to use tool making mathematics including trigonometry and other advanced mathematics.
+ Required to plan, layout and perform machining operations and bench work to construct, alter and repair tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gages and replacement parts to close-fitting tolerances and finishes.
+ Using hand and power tools, perform bench work to construct and finish jobs involving polishing, grinding, fitting, aligning, timing and calibrating.
+ Will be required to set-up and adjust new or modified tooling in production.
+ Must be efficient in operating CNC equipment and be capable of interpreting CNC machine code.
+ Must be able to set-up and operate various welding machines such as MIG, TIG & stick machines.
+ Performs work assignments in accordance with established safety procedures and standards.
+ Inspect and gauge work to the best and highest quality.
+ Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
+ Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities.
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
+ Graduate of Vocational Machinist School or equivalent experience required.
+ Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of tool making experience.
+ Manufacturing/production environment experience desired but not required.
+ Forklift operation experience desired but not required.
