Salary Range: $50,222.00 – $72,822.00
The Health Facilities Supervisor is responsible for supervising and performing inspections of health care facilities and monitoring results of health laboratory proficiency examinations. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Inspects independent and hospital laboratories and other Medicare certified health care facilities to determine compliance with existing state and federal laws, regulations, and Medicare standards and to investigate consumer complaints.
Reviews facility’s documentation procedures, files on previous surveys and investigations, organizational structure, and qualifications of institution personnel to verify compliance with Medicare requirements.
Determines procedure compliance by examining logs and records of procedures and tests. Reviews calibration records to determine that instruments are properly and periodically calibrated.
Interviews institution administrators and laboratory personnel to clarify or confirm findings of facility survey concerning laboratory deficiencies or other non-compliance issues in which the facility fails to comply with Medicare regulations.
Recommends measures to correct deficiencies and non-compliance, establishes deadline for corrective action, explains documentation, and writes report of inspection.
Reviews reports from subordinates and monitors subsequent corrective measures, and makes follow-up inspections.
Monitors and examines results of laboratory personnel proficiency examinations according to Medicare requirements and, when results are unacceptable, contacts and directs the facility to submit result of further testing when appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Frequent in-state overnight travel and occasional out-of-state travel is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations regarding the certification of health care facilities.
Knowledge of basic laboratory operations and procedures.
Knowledge of the operation and functions of standard and specialized medical laboratory equipment.
Knowledge of the scientific principles of chemical and/or biological analysis techniques.
Ability to assess the compliance of laboratory procedures and operations with established certification criteria, including the ability to conduct specialized analyses and research methods.
Ability to compile observations into comprehensive inspection reports.
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, or a related field; or registration in a health-related field such as nursing or medical technology; plus four years of experience in laboratory operations, tests, analyses, and related fields, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
Must possess a valid Arkansas driverÃ¢Â?Â?s license
