Position Summary

The General Accounting Manager position will assist in month-end financial reporting; prepare monthly journal entries, perform general ledger account analysis & reconciliations, manage & supervise the accounting clerical staff, assist with regulatory audits, forecasting, & special projects as needed.   This position will be based in Hot Springs, AR and will report to the Controller.  Some travel may be required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures.
Know, understand, and follow department policies and procedures.
Oversee Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable functions.
Supervise AP & AR clerical staff.
Supports Cash Flow forecasting on weekly and monthly basis.
Assists with month-end closing requirements with account / variance analysis and preparing journal entries as assigned.
Performs payroll related reconciliations including earnings & deductions and prepares related journal entries.
Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and related journal entries.
Prepares general accounting journal entries as needed (e.g., subledger expenses, commission accruals)
Maintains fixed asset records, reconciliations, formulates monthly depreciation expense and fixed asset related journal entries.
Supports regulatory audits.
Support site-level management by performing limited analysis & preparing related reports.
Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Report to work on time, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will typically have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related field.

2 years plus in Accounting Leadership Role (Accounting or Finance Manager).
College GPA average of no less than 3.0 out of 4.0.
Willingness to travel.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience working with accounting software and databases. 
General accounting knowledge & previous experience to include sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards & regulations.
Payroll accounting experience.
Managerial experience with accounts receivable collections and/or accounts payable.
Fixed asset accounting.
Cash flow forecasting.
Superior data management and data analysis skills.
Private equity experience is a plus.
Leadership.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Management / project management skills. Demonstrated background of meeting deadlines.
 Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer proficiency and functional knowledge with applications and activities including (but not limited to):
MS Excel skills - minimum at Intermediate user level.  (e.g., VLOOKUP, sum if, functions)
MS Office including Power point and Word. 
ERP system & Database query experience a plus but not required.
ADP experience a plus
 Language Skills 

Ability to read and write the English language.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
