The Technical Services Manager will supervise employees who install, maintain, and repair industrial processing and manufacturing equipment. This position will coordinate with manufacturing personnel and management to ensure that manufacturing equipment is maintained and in ready status. The successful candidate will ensure that machine and equipment metrics achieve a high level of performance, communicate readiness, drive execution of repair and engage a highly skilled team to customer satisfaction.
The individual must have a deep-rooted background and industrial experience engaged in Lean manufacturing with a focus on TPS (Toyota Production System) or ABS (Alcoa Business System) experience preferred.
Oversees the growth and development of site leaders in the areas of EBS (5S, MDI, A3, VSM, CRI).
Oversees the EBS System at the plant and ensures consistent and effective levels of deployment in connection with standardized methods established by Hydro ENA and Hydro Extrusions.
Effectively utilizes SPC (Statistical Process Control) to establish in control and capable processes prior to making improvement-based changes.
Works closely with the local finance group in justification analysis / ROI development for EBS projects tied to operating efficiency improvement. This includes the justification support for CapEx requirements. Ensures compliance to standards for calculation of savings (rates, recovery, downtime, etc.)
Lead a team of skilled technicians and electricians to drive machine and equipment performance.
Support a Predictive and Preventive Maintenance Program for machine tools and equipment.
Ensure the implementation and accuracy of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Lead and Coordinate Root Cause and Corrective Action of machine and equipment failures. Communicate daily status of machine downtime and repair activities.
Approves requisitions for equipment, materials and supplies within limits of department budget
Experience in continuous improvement (CI) roles external to Hydro - depth and breadth of exposure to successful lean manufacturing systems in heavy manufacturing.
Accurately interprets data and conveys to the level of the audience.
Specific examples of coordinating actual effective execution of improvement initiatives on the manufacturing shop floor (not just consulting but direct involvement) - specific examples.
Aggregate efficiency savings on the order 1% of annualized revenue ($10M per $1B). Should demonstrate some quantification of personal impact.
Proficiency (specific examples) in disciplined, systemic problem solving. Understands PDCA / A3 with extensive utilization. Six Sigma DMAIC also preferred but secondary.
Proficiency in project management (specific examples) driving efficiency and waste elimination kaizen with measurements.
Proficiency in effectively leading initiatives in 5S, kaizen, visual controls, process variation management, optimization, MDI, TPM, single-piece flow (short-interval) and value stream mapping.
Demonstrated experience in project management and be able to develop and drive
cultural change at the core.
