BUSINESS UNIT / FUNCTION

PURPOSE OF JOB
Responsible for the development, directing and administration of efficient and professional operations of occupational health services in accordance with company policies, practices, procedures, and applicable regulations to achieve the desired goals and objectives. Assists with all aspects of health services staffing, competency, processes, customer service, and quality improvement.
Include, but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned):
• Assure and oversee compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations.
• Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services.
• Collaborate with outside resources for program development, including but not limited to: healthcare providers, third-party administrators, legal advisors, regulatory agencies, other Valeant site OHS personnel, etc.
• Responsible for assuring the appropriate access and utilization of healthcare services.
• Evaluate and treat all injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines.
• Guide and direct all referrals to outside healthcare providers and services.
• Oversee delivery of the required physical evaluation programs and services to meet regulatory requirement; such as OSHA, Department of Transportation, CDC, etc.
• Participate on the ergonomic team to assess jobs and provide input regarding ergonomic improvements.
• Manage the site’s First Aid Response Team to ensure required training and appropriate shift coverage requirements are maintained.
• Administer the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program.
• Assist with the accident investigation program to identify root cause analysis of all incidents and near misses.
+ Manage all cases to facilitate productivity, assuring appropriate care and return to work, including workers’ compensation, short- and long-term disability cases
+ Assess healthcare needs, then implement and manage healthcare programs to improve health and facilitate return to work, maintain worker medical files
+ Assist departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing accommodations and return to work options for workers with restricted duty.• Collaborate with Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability, site Operations, and Human Resources to develop protocols, programs, and services by providing content expertise.• Contribute in the design of controls for injury prevention and health surveillance related to actual and potential hazards in the work environment.• Identify primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimize health of the population.• Develop and implement site Wellness Programs and Health Care initiatives.

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Sr. Occupational Health Nurse assesses the health needs of the employee population and worksite, ensuring health programs are in accordance to company policy, standards and applicable laws.
Employees in the 3 St. Louis facilities, 2 Solta facilities, Surgical and Field Sales, and other Valeant locations as required. Also liaison with other internal occupational health and EHS&S professionals; external health care providers; and insurance administrators.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and active Missouri State license as a registered nurse
Preferred Education: BSN
+ Basic understanding of Federal and State regulations applicable to occupational health, as well as environment, health and safety
+ Ability to work with a team &/or independently
+ Ability to make independent nursing judgements, perform basic physical assessments, problem solve and have strong time management skills
+ Strong computer, verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to prioritize work assignments
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Intermediate computer skills are essential in the use of electronic medical recordkeeping. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be detail oriented, excellent communication skills, have the ability to multitask and possess great interpersonal skills.
+ 2-3 years of experience in occupational health nursing &/or case management
+ Experience in community health, ambulatory care, critical care or emergency nursing
+ Certifications in occupational health nursing, case management and basic life support
+ CPR Instructor certification
+ NIOSH (spirometry) & CAOHC (hearing conservation) certification
