+ SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY – Job Summary (general statement of purpose or objective of position)
+ The Community Education Dietician works independently in the community setting and is responsible for providing health assessment, prevention, and health promotion to individuals, families, and groups. Flexible work hours and days as determined by the needs of the department and at the discretion of the Department Director. The Community Education Dietitian engages the community with interactive programs and discussions about nutrition. They are responsible for developing curriculums, presentations grocery store tours, and one on one counseling to meet the general needs of the community as well as specific health related content for chronic diseases and health conditions. Travels & supports locations & programs. Collaborates with internal & external resources to develop programs, educational materials, nutrition counseling , etc.
+ MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – Knowledge, skills, abilities, license, registration, certification, education, and experience
+ Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related field, plus one (1) year of nutrition or dietetics experience conducting nutritional assessments according to governing guidelines; developing and implementing dietary-care plans; providing nutritional counseling and education; and evaluating and monitoring progress toward nutritional goals. Must have Registered Dietitian Nutrition (RDN) Registered Dietitian (RD) certification or eligibility for certification; must hold Arkansas Dietitian Licensure or be eligible for licensure. Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations. Good decision making and judgment capabilities. Ability to instruct others. Ability to identify and solve complex problems.. Effective writing, speaking and listening skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to travel and to be flexible with work schedule.
