Zurich North America is looking for an AVP & Pricing Actuary to support our growing Accident & Health business as part of Zurich’s Specialty Line of Business. This role can be based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, New York City, or virtual.

The AVP & Pricing Actuary leads the pricing of new and renewal business and the development of effective premium/rating structure and strategies in support of Accident & Health business objectives specifically the Specialty Health market basket that includes Medical Stop Loss and HMO/Provider/Medical Excess of Loss products.

Responsibilities:

+ Calculates profit margins on new and renewal business

+ Coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analysis

+ Analyzes loss and expense reserves

+ Provides consultation on actuarial models and risk issues

+ Develops pricing tools

+ Supports A&H Market Facing and Technical Underwriters on A&H pricing decisions

+ Supports transactional pricing of large accounts

+ May oversee the work of less experienced actuaries

Basic Qualifications:

+ Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates DegreeOR

+ Bachelor’s DegreeAND

+ 8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certificationOR

+ 13 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification

Preferred Qualifications:

+ FCAS or FSA

+ Previous actuarial experience with Accident & Health line of business (Medical Stop Loss and HMO/Provider/Medical Excess)

+ Additional experience on other A&H products such as AD&D, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Business Travel Accident, Gap Medical as well as Leisure Travel a plus

+ Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or knowledge of statistical analysis software

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to explain technical analysis results to non-technical audiences

+ Experience collaborating on cross-functional team projects.
