Job Details:

SUMMARY: This position designs and initiates complex layouts for projects, develop scopes of work and write specifications for proposals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This person should be capable of providing effective project management from inception through construction and installation. On assigned projects the Engineer III shall organize the design resources, supervise design specification and procurement and coordinate the company’s objectives regarding capacity operability economics and timelines. This person will also be involved in the selection of approved contractors and will decide which systems are best suited for a specific application and how they are to be installed. Additional duties and responsibilities include: Be familiar with OSHA regulations by working with Safety Coordinators become familiar with Tyson’s safety regulations; provide engineering design for new projects and utility systems, help conduct compressed air evaluations, heat exchanger, drying equipment, hydraulic, ventilation, hot water, cold water, steam systems, thermal fluid systems, air scrubbing, odor control system inspections and write comprehensive reports recommending design considerations, stand-by recommendations, repair or replacement activities and code compliance issues; prepare estimates for design and construction; ensure all engineering projects initiatives and processes are in conformance with Tyson’s established policies, objectives and standards; analyze construction and design bids and recommend the candidates for successful bidder; prepare service requisitions based on the bids for order generation by Corporate Purchasing; review and approve construction shop drawings and product submittals for conformance to construction documents; perform construction site visits and provide written reports of construction progress and deficiencies; support and develop corporate construction standards and details including inter-discipline standards; maintain professional registration as required;. The Engineer III should have a working knowledge of all applicable codes that pertain to development of Mechanical Engineering standards and details, coordinates project design work including planning, design calculations, mechanical layouts, P&ID piping diagrams, electrical requirements, insulation, etc. The engineer will interact with other engineering disciplines and maintain current project knowledge of project cost and assumes responsibility for project cost management. The engineer will consult with accounting personnel relative to project accounting procedures and project costs. REQUIREMENTS:

+ Education: Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required. Registration by examination as a Professional Engineer preferred.

+ Experience: A minimum of 5 years applicable engineering experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food processing industry preferred.

+ Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Computer Skills: Knowledge and use of computer programs spreadsheet database and scheduling programs Microsoft exposure preferred; proficient AutoCAD/REVIT knowledge and experience.

+ Special Skills: Capable of working on multi-faceted projects of any magnitude while requiring limited supervision; has demonstrated repeated ability to complete complex projects on time and on budget. Good knowledge of a variety of the Mechanical Engineering disciplines concepts practices and procedures.

+ Travel: Frequent travel is involved up to 50%.
