Description

+ Participates in the interviewing, hiring, orientation, and continued training of BHA’s (Behavioral Health Associates).

+ Serves as a role model for residents, peers and subordinates.

+ Provides education to Behavioral Health Associates

+ Provides a safe, therapeutic environment that protects resident’s rights.

+ Develops a therapeutic relationship with residents.

+ Sets limits on resident’s behavior.

+ Encourages independent behavior.

+ Ensures that residents and families are oriented to the Center and the unit.

+ Observes resident behavior for changes in order to intervene appropriately, guide nonprofessional nursing staff, communicate changes to appropriate staff, and record changes.

+ Intervenes in crisis situations as per CPI guidelines.

+ Collaborates with members of other disciplines in a professional manner.

+ Participates in staff development.

+ Participates in performance appraisal by conducting 90-day and annual evaluations in a timely manner and consistent with policy.

+ Seeks input from Human Resource Manager/Supervisor in addressing employee performance or conduct problems; complies with company’s’ policies in enforcing standards of conduct and performance.

+ Adheres to applicable Human Resource Policies and Procedures, as well as applicable laws, standards, and regulations related to staff supervision and management.

+ Participates in investigation and disciplinary action with regard to alleged violations of policy and procedure by staff.

+ Facilitates unit staff meetings, ensures inter-shift communication.

+ Applies behavioral interviewing methodology when conducting job interviews.

+ Coordinates and communicates with outside agencies regarding incidents.

+ Supports the organization’s mission, goals, and objectives. Brings further development opportunities to attention of supervision.

+ Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Education

Required

+ High School/GED or better

+ Associates or better in Human Services

+ Bachelors or better in Human Services

Experience

Required

+ 1 year: One or more years’ experience as a lead or previous supervisory experience required

Preferred

+ 1 year: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human service field from an accredited college or university preferred.
