Job Description


The Associate Actuary, General provides actuarial support across a broad range of actuarial and business needs for Group Medicare – Part D. The Associate Actuary, General work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.


The Associate Actuary, General may be responsible for any combination of Group Part D pricing, analytics, forecasting, risk, compliance, and operations. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

More specifically, the Associate Actuary will:

+ Take complex data and make it understandable and usable for stakeholders and leaders

+ Assess opportunities to build out additional tools, visualizations and reporting capabilities

+ Analyze existing forecasting and assumption development processes to recommend enhancements and perform/use A-to-E analysis to improve methodology

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree

+ Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation

+ Meets eligibility requirements for Humana’s Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)


+ Demonstrated ability to present to senior leadership and non technical business partners with limited experience in Part D

+ Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience in Medicare Part D, preferably experience working with Part D Employer Group Waiver Plans

+ 3 or more years of experience with relevant technical skills (Excel, SQL, SAS, VBA , Power BI etc.)

+ Ability to think holistically through a project

+ Independent consulting ability

+ Experience leading a team

+ Prefer someone located close to the Louisville office area, but open to WAH
