The Associate Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting analyzes and assists the team with forecasting Medicare healthcare claims for strategic and operational decisions. Outputs of the processes influence budgeting and aid in determining future operating expectations for Humana’s Medicare business. The Associate Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting provides insights, preforms evaluations, and actual to expected analysis on emerging experience to assess short and long term financial impacts. Assists with the creation of monthly forecasts for the rest of the year and future years. The Associate Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting presents work product to external stakeholders driving meaningful discussion and obtaining buy in on the analysis. Frequently explores new solutions to existing or new problems incorporating new technologies or methodologies that rethinks routine.
+ Maintain and enhance Actuarial models for predicting and assessing the impact of different healthcare claims drivers
+ Assist with ad hoc reconciliation processes between Humana teams to ensure alignment and consistency
+ Collaborates with Actuarial and Financial Stakeholders to understand business needs/issues, troubleshoots problems, and conducts root cause analysis
+ Frequently works in SAS/SQL with claim level information to create robust processes and reports that provide insightful metrics into healthcare drivers ensuring data integrity
+ Mentor and grow actuarial students on the team through collaborative projects
+ Look to incorporate a large array of information from internal and external sources into their work
+ Bachelor’s Degree
+ Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation
+ Meets eligibility requirements for Humana’s Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)
+ Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
+ Strong communication skills presenting detail work and discussing work product with non-actuarial customers
+ Strong technical skills to independently interpret data/information and create recommendations for management
+ Experience coding in at least one of R, Python, SAS, SQL, or VBA
+ Experience working with large datasets and analyzing complex and messy data
+ Demonstrated interest in learning new things and in encourage teammates to do so
+ Experience automating and streamlining processes
