This position is located in Texarkana, Arkansas

The Patient Representative works under general supervision counseling patients on their financial status and obligation. This position will identify and refer the patient and/or responsible party to an appropriate sponsoring agency. The position will be responsible for processing high risk pre-certifications, referrals, and develop and implement denial avoidance plans. This position will prepare daily deposit and complete the appropriate paperwork to submit daily by deadline. The patient representative is expected to demonstrate competency in the job elements of all levels of the Access Coordinator positions.

Responsibilities

 

 

 

Meets, greets and assists the public, answers telephones in a professional and friendly manner.

Communicates accurate and complete information, maintains strict confidentiality and demonstrates effective communication skills.

Process referrals, schedules appointments and attends required training and staff meetings.

Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers management team and ancillary departments.

Deals with conflict in a positive and professional manner using careful listening and negotiation skills to resolve disagreements.

Demonstrates effective service recovery skills.

Conducts insurance verification and benefit explanation, perform ABN completion, authorizations and pre-certifications.

Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Business or related field plus three (3) years of experience in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment - OR - a High School diploma or GED equivalent plus seven (7) years of experience and/or training in business office administration, customer service, or related work. Three (3) of the seven years must be experience in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment.

Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Basic computer keyboard skills and general knowledge of office machines, including printers and scanner.

Any criminal history will be evaluated in relationship to job responsibilities and business necessity.
