“This position is currently located in the IP organization, assigned to the Sylvamo project, and will be transferred to the Sylvamo organization contingent upon the closing of the transaction estimated to occur 10/1/2021.”

Company Overview

In December 2020, International Paper announced plans to spin-off the company’s global Printing Papers business into a standalone, publicly traded, global company with a singular focus on uncoated freesheet. The name of the new company will be Sylvamo Corporation. The word Sylvamo was formed by using the Latin words for forest, “silva,” and love, “amo.” We translate this unique combination as “love of forests.”

Sylvamo aims to improve people’s lives, the planet and our company’s performance by transforming renewable resources into recyclable papers that people depend on every day for education, communication and entertainment.

Sylvamo will employ approximately 7,500 employees globally and have operations in Europe, Latin America and North America.

The proposed Printing Papers spin-off is subject to customary conditions, including final approval by the International Paper Board of Directors. The spin-off is expected to be completed later this year.

Position Overview

Sylvamo’s Supply Chain is very integrated and utilizes a centralized SAP system. The functional groups work closely every day in order to be successful.

Sylvamo’s Global Supply Chain Associate could perform one of five (5) full-time roles in the functional groups below:

+ Customer Service/ Account Executives (AEs)

+ Replenishment Planners (RPs)

+ Supply Planners (SPs)

+ Transportation Planners (TPs)

+ Carrier Associate

Main Responsibilities

+ Acquire basic understanding of Sylvamo’s end to end supply chain processes

+ Understand and follow policies, procedures, and best practices established for managing supply chain processes

+ Build and maintain relationships with cross functional teams to meet cost and service objectives

+ Communicate effectively with cross functional teams on daily activities, issues, and concerns that affect customer commitments

+ Proactively respond to internal and external requests

+ Assist in root cause analysis and provide resolution for issues that have significant business impact

+ Support a culture of continuous improvement by assisting/leading deliberate improvement projects

+ Mentor and train new employees in SAP transactions, processes, and responsibilities

+ The role may require after-hour on-call coverage to support business operations


+ Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or Engineering related fields)

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to achieve results in a team environment

+ Ability to work under pressure to resolve immediate issues while meeting scheduled business deadlines and customer commitments

+ Ability to quickly learn new business processes and technology

+ Supply Chain experience preferred
