We are seeking a creative and driven individual to join the Data Analytics team within our Finance and Actuarial area. This individual will focus on various types of analytics and Actuarial experience studies by compiling, exploring and modeling data using various analytical techniques. This analysis will create insights into our customer behaviors and take our current analytics to a new level.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Collaborate with our business partners to develop a clear and well-defined purpose for our analytics that drives either a business outcome or visibility to a business opportunity.
Compile and transform data from various sources while understanding.
Explore data to understand and articulate the data profile and its limitations.
Develop trusted outcomes by applying appropriate analytical techniques and metrics.
Communicate outcomes at varying levels of detail to our business partners.
Build relationship with our business partners to drive adoption of advanced analytic techniques.
May direct project activities, coordinate research, and/or train and answer questions of technicians, depending on the nature of the actuarial assignments and departmental structure.
This job posting is reflective of the Sr Actuarial Assistant essential functions, qualifications, and physical requirements. The Actuarial Associate and Managing Actuary levels have variable essential functions, qualifications, and physical requirements. Competency and skill set will determine level of placement within the posted job family.
Successful completion of 5 exams offered by the Society of Actuaries is required, plus an ongoing commitment to attain a fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
2 years of experience in data analysis
Thorough actuarial background
Proficient in either statistical analysis and/or at least one general purpose coding language
Ability to write SQL
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office products
Insurance products and industry knowledge
Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of intellectual curiosity
Strong oral and written communication and human relations skills
Potential to self-direct and work independently at times

Ability to incorporate actuarial expertise and statistical models to effectively provide insightful analytics.

Good business judgment to identify experience trends and issues requiring modification in standard approaches or need to elevate risk concerns
Proven track record of taking accountability and ownership over work projects
Leadership, communication, presentation, and human relations skills
2 years of experience programming in a predictive modeling system (i.e. SAS, R, etc...)
Masters/PhD in analytically driven fields such as Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science and/or Mathematics is preferred
