Summary:

At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) our mission is to give people the tools to feel connected anytime, anywhere. We create new, category-defining consumer hardware and software – such as Oculus Quest, Portal, and Spark AR – that are immersive, social, and increase the depth of people’s connections. Our team is a diverse group of problem solvers, inventors, and proven visionaries who are relentless about transforming everyday occurrences into rich experiences that have the potential to improve the way billions of people live. We’re seeking experienced Infrastructure software engineers to join our teams in FRL. Join us!

Required Skills:

1. Drive the team’s goals and technical direction to pursue opportunities that make your larger organization more efficient

2. Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail

3. Understand industry & company-wide trends to help assess & develop new technologies

4. Partner & collaborate with organization leaders to help improve the level of performance of the team & organization

5. Identify new opportunities for the larger organization & influence the appropriate people for staffing/prioritizing these new ideas

6. Understand the goals, strategy, and engineering bottlenecks of the organization

7. Advocate for higher product quality and engineering efficiency

Minimum Qualifications:

8. Experience leading projects with industry-wide impact

9. Experience communicating and working across functions to drive solutions

10. Experience in mentoring/influencing senior engineers across organizations

11. Proven track record of planning multi-year roadmap in which shorter-term projects ladder to the long-term vision

12. Experience in driving large cross-functional/industry-wide engineering efforts

13. 12+ years of programming experience

14. 12+ years of experience with building large-scale applications, or similar experience

Preferred Qualifications:

15. BS degree in Computer Science or related field

16. Experience building backend services or platforms

17. Experience building AR/VR products or infra from ideation to shipping

18. Experience shipping products to millions of customers or have started a new line of product

19. Experience with virtual reality (Rift, VIVE, Gear VR, etc.)
