The Memphis Grizzlies Foundation exists to foster conditions that lead to accelerated student achievement, ensuring that the rising generation is equipped with the skills needed to compete in the current and future economies. To that end, our mission is to find, fund, create, and connect best in class youth mentoring/development programs in the Mid-South region.

The Program Coordinator, Grizzlies TEAM Mentor Program is primarily responsible for leading operations of the mentoring program at all school sites, aiding with the development & implementation of a blueprint for coaching volunteer mentors in a manner that emphasizes the social context of mentees and utilizes social scientific knowledge and developmentally relevant tactics to support mentor/mentee interactions.

The successful candidate will serve as an articulate and passionate champion for the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation and TEAM Mentor Program both internally and externally, with charitable and business partners, media, fans and community members, advocating for the advancement of youth mentoring and education, awareness and engagement in the team’s initiatives. The Coordinator will maintain community engagement efforts including supporting curriculum and service partnerships, increasing parent engagement and will also be responsible for implementing program communication & marketing efforts.

+ Coordinate Grizzlies TEAM Program elements including (a) new partner school onboarding (b) on-site program management, © site specific events, (d) ongoing expansion strategy, (e) program policies and procedures, (f) communication with volunteer mentors, students’ families, school personnel and other community partners;

+ Lead the development and implementation of the school partner onboarding and evaluation process;

+ Develop and manage relationships with partner school administration & grade-level teachers by facilitating regular school meetings, and encouraging frequent interaction;

+ Oversee program newsletter and parent text service;

+ Maintain in-depth understanding of best practices in mentoring & positive youth development to lead curriculum development and facilitation and innovate on existing program activities, ensuring alignment to The Elements of Effective Practice;

+ Facilitate high impact relationships between mentee/mentor pairs, including monitoring quality and participation and providing individualized case management through regular support and communication;

+ Generate content & lead the implementation of mentor preparation and debrief sessions in alignment with TEAM Mentor Program curriculum in order to advance program goals and address training gaps for mentors;

+ Lead the development, dissemination and collection of student enrollment documents;

+ Manage student/family engagement activities calendar to include coordinating family nights, holiday celebrations, etc.;

+ Monitor program inputs throughout the year and support ongoing mentor program evaluation efforts to increase program effectiveness;

+ Assist with the recruitment, screening & training of adult volunteers;

+ Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator to facilitate event planning of mentor training sessions, recruitment activities and recognition events;

+ Assist with website updates and with the development of social media content;

+ Other duties as assigned.


+ Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Communications, Business Administration, Sports Management or related field.

+ Minimum one (1) year experience working in volunteer or program management, or related position which included creating and conducting training sessions, leveraging technology to advance execution of strategy, programs and partnerships, and acquiring knowledge and experiences related to youth development, youth mentoring, education reform, or community development;

+ Excellent people skills with the ability to interact effectively with all types of people, including staff and management, school and community partners, professional and elite athletes, members of the media, senior government officials and corporate representatives;

+ Excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills;

+ Excellent organizational, strategic and analytical skills;

+ High level of integrity and emotional intelligence;

+ Experience facilitating multi-faceted projects and strategy;

+ Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence others and the ability to work in a team environment;

+ Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and the internet;

+ Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required;

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced/complex organization;

+ Resilient and able to adapt to challenges associated with change;

+ Valid Driver License and reliable transportation to travel between program sites and Foundation office.


+ MBA or advanced degree in relevant field.

+ Experience working within corporate social responsibility, community relations, philanthropy, cause-marketing, nonprofit management and / or with a board of directors preferred.
