Director, Quality Engineering
Are you passionate about solving challenging problems around distributed systems, Cloud-scale unstructured storage – objects and stream and quality? The Object Storage & Streaming Analytics (OSSA) team, part of the larger Unstructured Data Storage organization is seeking a Director, Quality Engineering for a high visibility role responsible for leading strategic quality efforts across their product and technology suite which includes but not limited to DELL EMC ECS, Objectscale, DELL EMC Streaming Data Platform, Pravega. + Deployable in a software-defined model or as a turnkey appliance, ECS is the industry leading object-storage platform from Dell EMC that delivers S3, Atmos, CAS, Swift, NFSv3, and HDFS storage services on a single, modern platform. + Objectscale which is our next generation of object storage platform takes advantage of Kubernetes’ native automated deployment, scaling and management capabilities making it lighter, faster and deployable on existing ESXi-virtualized infrastructure, all manageable from within the vSphere UI and on Openshift deployments manageable through a standalone UI largely. + The Dell EMC Streaming Data Platform is a platform for ingesting, storing and analyzing continuously streaming data in real-time. + As a Manager of managers own accountability of the deliverables a team of 70+ quality engineers and contribute to their growth and career development.
+ Architect customer focused systems and processes to measurably improve product quality.
+ Evolve the broad organizational test strategy for use through all phases of the development cycle.
+ Champion engineering rigor and best practices to ensure new features ship with E2E quality in mind.
+ Design, build, and measure quality metrics to be used across the broader organization.
+ Streamline release qualification process and lead efforts to fully automate the release pipeline with relentless focus on CI/CD.
+ Conduct quality of service reviews across the Unstructured Data Storage organization.
+ Represent in TCE reviews and Infrastructure Storage Group quality v-team initiatives.
+ Required qualifications:
+ 15+ years of software development experience
+ BS/MS in computer science and/or equivalent fields of study or equivalent experience
+ Prior experience focused on software quality.
+ Proven ability to plan, schedule and deliver high quality software.
+ Ability to collaborate across teams and influence others towards common goals and priorities.
+ Firm sense of accountability and ownership for end-to-end project lifecycle with solid project management and communication skills.
+ Experience with various testing techniques including unit testing, integration testing, E2E testing, fault injection, performance testing, scale testing, and long-haul testing.
+ Passion, conviction, and the innate ability to inspire passion in others.
+ Experience with release management and CI/CD infrastructure pipelines.
+ Experience write coding in Java, python or equivalent language.
