Job Description

Arkansas PBS is looking for a Studio Systems Engineer. The studio Systems Engineer oversees the Arkansas PBS Studio Video and audio production, routing, and distribution equipment. In addition, works with the production and education department to support the technical implementation and operations of the studio.  
 

Responsibilities include:

Management of studio equipment for Arkansas PBS Production and Education division

  • Maintain an inventory of all studio equipment. Complete M&R as required as well as asset management and audit responsibilities.
  • Oversee equipment technical operations, maintenance, configuration, damage reporting as well as manage the video and audio production control room, studio camera and lighting resources.
  • Make recommendations for equipment purchases, system design, upgrades and replacement.
  • Undertake equipment repair and maintenance efforts.

Management of routing and distribution equipment for Arkansas PBS Production and Education divisions

  • Maintain an inventory of all routing and signal distribution equipment. Complete M&R as required as well as asset management and audit responsibilities.
  • Oversee the hardware needed for video and audio routing, distribution QC, test and monitoring.
  • Undertake the design and implementation of studio video routing and audio distribution systems and infrastructure.
  • Undertake a support roll for computer operating environments such as video graphics, video playout and record as well as any other production support applications.
  • Make recommendations for equipment and software purchases, upgrades and replacement.
  • Undertake equipment repair and maintenance efforts.

Technical oversight for production operations

  • Make recommendations and maintain common standards for video recording, editing and file storage.
  • Give input to the production video, clip and still storage, video graphics, studio computer network design and connectivity.
  • Work collaboratively with IT for maintenance and development of the video storage, graphics, network client and equipment connections.
  • Provide or coordinate staff training on studio equipment operation, production techniques, camera and lighting as well as production software applications.
  • Advise on production workflows and maintain production collaboration, video graphics and creation software environments.
  • Live event streaming in support of in studio productions.

 

Trade School or Certification on video switchers, routing systems, audio mixers, studio cameras, and lighting systems with three years of technical maintenance of studio production equipment.  Must be able to left road-cased equipment up to 75lbs and knowledge of video and audio productions. ARPBS will consider military electronics or AV installation background for all or some of the three years of technical maintenance experience
