Job Description

“This position is currently located in the IP organization, assigned to the Sylvamo project, and will be transferred to the Sylvamo organization contingent upon the closing of the transaction estimated to occur 10/1/2021.”

Provide secretarial and administrative support to professionals in the Global Ethics and Compliance Office and the Deputy General Counsel and his team members. Support includes assistance in coordinating between central Ethics and Compliance Office and compliance managers and counsels across global regions. Includes supporting the Deputy General Counsel’s team in matters of commercial law and litigation.

Responsibilities include:

Direct and screen telephone calls; type letters, memos, contracts and other legal documents from handwritten drafts; prepare PowerPoint presentations; schedule meetings; schedule travel and handle expense reports; sort, file and retrieve legal documents and files; manage files; handle archiving process and document retention; process invoices and outside counsel fees; support team in keeping current on CLE and compliance credits; manage department records in accordance with records management processes and schedules; prepare monthly and quarterly reporting, including quarterly legal certifications; maintain legal matter management databases; generate monthly SAP reports; prepare presentations and reports; categorize and file electronic and hard-copy compliance documents; assist and coordinate with other Legal department attorneys, paralegals and other staff as required; work on highly confidential matters with utmost discretion and professionalism.


Must have a minimum seven years’ experience working in a law office or corporate environment. Must be able to work in harmony with others in team environment. Must have very strong computer skills and be proficient using MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel. Strong grammar skills required. Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to follow through to completion on projects and processes. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy office environment. Must be able to handle and maintain confidences. SAP experience is helpful.

Education and Experience

High school graduate, or equivalent, with minimum seven years’ legal administrative experience. College preferred, with five years’ legal administrative experience. Prior experience working with all levels of management, including senior and executive management a plus.
