We are looking for experienced biochemist to aid in our exciting studies of the protein kinome. Our recent NMR studies of the Abl kinase (Xie et al Science 2020) have shown how the conformational states dynamically populated by a kinases directly regulates function. We have been awarded the largest BlueSky initiative grant to expand such studies to the entire protein kinome. We are looking for experienced biochemist to aid in these efforts. The candidate will work in an exciting environment as the candidate studies large and dynamic protein kinases in close collaboration with NMR spectroscopists and computational biologists. The unparalleled NMR center at St. Jude includes three 600 MHz, two 700 MHz, four 800 MHz, 850 MHz, and the first 1.1 GHz in the world. The research activity will be supported by the BlueSky initiative.

The Senior Researcher will have the following key responsibilities:
+ Performs tasks related to the research project independently, but within specific guidelines and subject to regular review by supervisor or other research staff.
+ Perform basic molecular biology techniques like PCR, vector construction, plasmid purification and sequencing analysis.
+ Responsible for expression, purification, modification, and characterization of recombinant proteins from a variety of host cells.
+ Characterization of purified proteins by various biochemical, biophysical, and structural approaches.
+ Work effectively in a collaborative team environment where results are achieved through influence, cooperation, and the incorporation of multiple points of view.
+ Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required.
+ Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required.
+ No experience is required with a Master’s degree.
+ Expertise in molecular cloning techniques.
+ Good knowledge in protein biochemistry, protein purification (using affinity and traditional chromatographic techniques).
+ Creative thinker with a strong sense of responsibility and a collaborative spirit.
+ Excellent communication skills.
