POSITION SUMMARYWorking under the Vice President of Process Engineering and alongside the Technology, Engineering and Production/Operations Departments, the successful candidate will be responsible for continuously improving production efficiency, increasing yield percentages, product quality and failure analysis by defining and implementing optimal glass processing methods, materials, products and standards at View’s Olive Branch, MS high-volume manufacturing facility. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Set up and maintenance of Laser systems for Laser material processing

+ Monitor and improve Throughput, Quality, Yield and Uptime of Laser tools

+ Continuous improvement of existing Laser processes

+ Development of new Laser processes

+ Updating and maintaining documentation of Laser processes

+ Performing additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors and managers


+ 2+ years of hands-on-experience on laser system used for thin-film scribing / patterning

+ In-depth understanding of laser – material interactions (e.g. ablation, Heat affected zone, effect of spot size, pulse duration on material processing etc.)

+ Experience in defining optical system configuration and selecting components for laser processing systems

+ Extensive hands-on experience in aligning of open beam paths

+ Knowledge of scanners and programming of scanners for wide area laser processing

+ Experience in characterization of laser processed sample for troubleshooting issues

+ Excellent hands-on diagnostic, troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Ability to analyze statistical data; familiarity with software such as JMP is preferred

+ Ability to shift focus among multiple priorities quickly

+ Be detail-oriented and able to work with minimal supervision

+ Be a highly motivated, team-player with a positive attitude who is also excited about learning new skills and assisting with various projects and assignments as necessary

+ Working knowledge and understanding of, MSDS, lock-out/tag-out, and OSHA requirements

+ Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Explorer) and basic computer skills

+ Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing


+ Master’s degree in physical sciences or engineering

+ PhD in Optics / Lasers / Materials Science is preferred
