The purpose of the Principal IT Business Systems Analyst role is to analyze business requirements, operational processes and data relationships/configurations to sustain operations, align processes across business units/geographies, and develop solutions to complex problems. The cross-functional activities of this role require effective communication with numerous functional areas and the ability to define business requirements related to technology. In addition, this role requires the ability to facilitate process development and improvement activities ongoing.
A Day in the Life
This role will be responsible for providing leadership in assessing the needs of the RTG Operations and Supply Chain functions and partner with Global IT Process teams to define and enable systems that support business strategies and objectives across the various manufacturing and operational realms.
Responsibilities may include the following, and other duties that may be assigned:
+ Build and Maintain partnerships with key business stakeholders to understand business strategies, ensuring IT solution alignment
+ Establish Global IT relationships and navigate a matrixed environment to drive improvements to our Manufacturing and Supply Chain capabilities
+ Scopes and estimates new IT project requests by partnering with the business to understand the business need and working cross functionally within IT to assess solutions and deliverables.
+ Consults with business stakeholders to understand, document, and evaluate current business processes and complex business problems.Turns those needs into system requirements and designs
+ Documents clear and complete requirements for solutions of large scope and complexity.
+ Develop and provide functional knowledge of current systems and data to end users.
+ Advocate for, and leverage approved Medtronic technologies; implement new capabilities based on the evolving needs of RTG manufacturing
+ Provides technical expertise for system functional requirement specifications and deploys new and current systems, processes and procedures in a high-quality manner.
+ Supports best practices within SAP and other global system standards
+ Assist in the planning and implementation of concepts, techniques and standards that support strategic operational objectives.
+ Communicate RTG Manufacturing IT Strategy to project teams and key business stakeholders. Ensure continued business sponsorship, engagement, and commitment.
+ Specifies tests for system and user acceptance testing based on requirement and design specifications, executes testing, resolves defects.
+ Develops user procedures and training material consistent with user needs and participates in user training.
+ Solves complex problems and demonstrates deep knowledge of business function in assigned area and/or technical discipline. Regularly provides guidance and training to less experienced analysts.
+ Plans, organizes and controls own work effort, provides input to project standards, provides status of progress, tasks completed and outstanding issues, and produces services/products of the best quality in the least amount of time.
+ Manages the coordination of the activities associated with assigned project(s) with responsibility for results in terms of cost, methods, execution and deployment
+ Create project plans including timelines and milestones and track progress.
+ Communication planning, information distribution, performance reporting, and administrative closure.
+ Ensure proper validation documentation is created for all projects (i.e. Medtronic System Compliance Methodology (MSCM)).
+ Provide detailed functional knowledge and maintain insight to current industry best practices and how they can be applied to Medtronic.
+ Ensure that Medtronic’s systems and the information on them are protected in accordance with Medtronic’s Information Protection Policies and Standards, as well as best Information Protection practices.
+ Ensure compliance to all internal policies and external regulations applicable to IT, including IT security policies, as well as medical FDA regulations and SOX requirements.
+ Travel may be required up to 25% of the time
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelors degree required
+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Nice to Have
+ Experience with SAP implementations in a manufacturing or supply chain environment
+ Experience with scoping and estimating IT project costs and timelines for projects of varying complexity, low to high.
+ Experience with managing projects and tracking project deliverables
+ Experience managing customer relationships and managing customer expectations.
+ Experience analyzing business processes and converting to requirements specifications, defining test cases and developing test scripts
+ Problem Solving; ability to recommend adjustments or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness.
+ Experience participating in system implementations either in a functional role (Business Analyst) or another technical role.
+ Ability to interface with technical teams and business stakeholders at multiple org levels
+ Strong facilitation, influencing, organizing, and presentation skills
+ Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
+ Deals well with uncertainty/ambiguity and possess ability to research, analyze and document problems (system/process)
+ Proven ability to achieve results through building partnerships and influence skills
+ Ability to lead facilitate change in a complex environment
+ Six Sigma Belt certification and/or Lean Sigma certification and experience
+ Team player, positive and self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently
+ Basic understanding of ERP and MES systems
+ 5+ years of experience in analytics in a global Healthcare or Medical Technology company
